Ding Dong Cake 🔥Recipe👇👇


Ingredients:


For the Cake:


1 box of chocolate cake mix (and the ingredients called for on the box, typically eggs, oil, and water)

For the Cream Filling:


1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups powdered sugar

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Ganache:


1 cup heavy whipping cream

8 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:


Prepare the Cake:


Prepare the chocolate cake as per the directions on the box. Pour batter into two 9-inch round baking pans.

Bake as instructed, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow cakes to cool completely.

Prepare the Cream Filling:


In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter until creamy and pale.

Gradually add powdered sugar and beat until well combined.

Slowly pour in the heavy whipping cream and vanilla, and beat until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Assemble the Cake:


Once the cakes are completely cooled, level the tops if needed.

Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread the cream filling over the top, leaving about a half-inch border around the edge.

Place the second cake layer on top, gently pressing down to seal the edges.

Prepare the Chocolate Ganache:


Heat the heavy whipping cream in a small saucepan until it just begins to simmer.

Remove from heat and pour over the chocolate chips in a bowl. Let sit for a minute, then whisk until smooth.

Finish the Cake:


Pour the chocolate ganache over the top of the cake, spreading it so it drips down the sides.

Allow the ganache to set for a few minutes before serving.
